Join the Registry
Who Can Donate?
You can join the NMDP Registry as a potential bone marrow or blood stem cell donor if you are between the ages of 18 and 60, in good general health and willing to be available if you are ever identified as a match for a patient in need.
Steps to Join the Registry:
- The Inland Northwest Blood Center (INBC) Marrow Program enrolls volunteers who wish to join the registry. After completing a registration form and health history questionnaire, a simple cheek cell swab or small blood sample is taken to determine your tissue type.
- After you join, your tissue type is entered into the NMDP's registry, a computerized database of potential donors, where patients seeking a compatible donor begin their search.
What happens next?
- Stay committed and available.
- Keep us informed of changes in your contact information and health status may be weeks, months or years before you are matched with a patient (if ever).
- But if you are a match, it is essential that we be able to locate you!
How Can I Join the Registry?
To register as a marrow donor you must:
- Be 18-60 years old
- Be in general good health and not excessively overweight
- Be willing to register for any patient in need
- Sign a written consent/provide a cheek swab
