INBC saves lives by providing blood and services to support transfusion and transplantation medicine in the Inland Northwest.

Volunteer Opportunities

INBC has many volunteer opportunities and positions available. By joining our dedicated team of more than 300 volunteers, you can help maintain a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in our community. Not only do volunteers provide direct services to our blood donors, but they also play a critical role in a variety of our operations. This section provides general information regarding volunteer opportunities at INBC.

Ways to help

Mobile blood drives and donation centers
Volunteers are always needed to assist with our mobile collection units, and in-house operations. Opportunities to volunteer while traveling the Inland Northwest are as follows:

Canteen Service
The canteen provides refreshments to blood donors as a thank you for the precious gift of life they have just given. Volunteers serve the donors, answer questions, and take care of the donor needs until they leave the canteen area.

Collection Assistant
Assist the staff with donors before, during and after blood donation in the drawing area. Collection assistants are a vital asset to the collection staff.

Heat Sealer
Preparing the units of blood for use in the laboratory by heat sealing tubing into small segments for later use in our Transfusion Services Laboratory.

Courier Service
Couriers travel throughout the Inland Northwest to our mobile blood drives. The blood products are picked up at the mobile site during the blood drive and it is brought back to the blood center in Spokane. INBC provides all transportation vehicles for this service.

Clerical Assistance

Many departments utilize volunteers to fulfill clerical needs. These include computer work, filing, and other projects, which provide valuable assistance to our staff.

Tele-recruitment

The INBC recruitment department utilizes volunteers in tele-recruitment.  This position calls existing donors to notify them of upcoming mobile blood drives as well as special promotions.

INBC is in need of volunteers at the following locations, as well as various mobiles in our communities:

  • Spokane, WA - Inland Northwest Blood Center Regional Headquarters
  • Coeur d' Alene, ID - North Idaho Site
  • Moses Lake, WA - Columbia Basin Site
  • Lewiston/Clarkston, WA- LC Valley Site
